about

Disc compiled with 10 songs by different artists from Brazil, the United States and Mexico. They are part of the second compilation of the LIFA festival, which on this occasion the Brazilian and Mexican alliance of the LIFA MÚSICA brand launch LIFA GLOBAL 2021. After a year 2020 and 2021 in pandemic, after a year of many complexities, musician friends who died from COVID and the music industry in a pause that for now seems to open a gap. This compilation talks about the online work of hundreds of humans, artists and brothers of sound art. It is yet another chapter in our ongoing quest for music, togetherness, talent and cultural cohesion globally.

After two years of pandemic for our festival, this compiled album generates a more distant contact between different national artists, cities, countries and regions. To speak of pluralism or purism would be too little. You have to see diversity, openness, inclusion and respect for art in general. The musicians who collaborate this year did so through our virtual call on the Sonicbids international platform where LIFA MÚSICA has been connecting bands and artists around planet Earth for 4 consecutive years.

10 totally open songs, ranging from rap, rock, hip hop, pop and electronic, as well as jazz, blues, folk, ambient, dub and house. This second sound journey is more rock than experimental. And it has great talent sharing the cover with other new and unknown artists. This is the opportunity that LIFA is always looking for. opening and sound.

Includes music by THE ODDYSSY (USA), ZUKANGOR (Brazil), HAKI (Mexico), DUST BOWL FAERIES (USA), MODULADY (Mexico), LAZARUS (Pakistan/USA), GLENN WHITE (USA), MAD MEG (USA/RUSSIA ), PHANTOM POWER (USA) and BEAT WILLY (USA).

THE ODDYSY is a band from New York. On this occasion, KJ on vocals, Johnny Juice on turntables and other instruments; They have the collaboration of Chuck D on vocals, Carlton Ridenhour better known for being the main vocalist and lyricist of the rap group Public Enemy. Also featured on this track are Neal Faison on guitar and Sonf Of Bazerk on additional vocals. They collaborate with the protest song “Bang Bang”. A call for harmony. It is a product of the anger and frustration of the band. Those who share this with us, literally: “Civil rights took a terrible hit in November of 2016. Gun violence is rampant. Hatred and scorn weigh heavy on our national dialogue. We must change. We must grow. We must resist”. A song like a glove to the war news of the whole world where the artists only say: more music, less bullets. Self-produced song by this New York group, mastered by Scott Hull at Masterdisk.

They open the second compilation of LIFA GLOBAL 2021, as a pleasant memory that peace is the way. Love, with respect, loyalty and freedom are potential engines for this era. Society seeks new paths of collaboration, relief and mutual support.

ZUKANGOR from São Paulo, Brazil. It is a relatively new band that arises in this southern cone. His peculiar style of alternative rock takes us through the Brazilian rock scene sung in English. The South American periphery has a strong legacy in heavy, grunge and indie rock music. It's a debut they get with the song “Never Know”. Something nu-metal can be. They remind us a lot of Deftones, Camber and Ned's Atomic Dustbin.

HAKI is Rodrigo Alonso's first electronic project. A Mexican musician, who has lived between Guadalajara, Cuernavaca and CDMX. Its beginnings have been rock, dub, electronic, house and grunge. Actually, with HAKI for a long time their sound is more directed towards electronic music, dub and groove house. Although on this occasion, something new that seems to bring some winks to synth pop and ambient reggae. A new return of this great Latin concept.

DUST BOWL FAERIES is a band from Hudson, NY. Dark carnival group based in New York. Founded by Ryder Cooley with Hazel, a stuffed ram who acts with the gang as his spirit pet. One of the best surprises and bands in this compilation. They participate with the song "Ketermaya" in a remix version of the talented friend Floyd Fisher aka FK. A great track to remind us that rock is never in a fight with anyone, not with the dance floor, or with anything.

MODULADY are a band from Costa Alegre (Jalisco), Mexico. Formed by Manuel Neztic and Aleida Magallanes. As they said on Bbandcamp, where they were recently reviewed: “Modulady's roots are firmly planted in shoegaze and dreamy bedroom pop, but somehow the group transcends that description. There are always great things waiting in the #indie rock tag.” On this occasion, they collaborate with the pleasant and succulent track of “Canción del Pedal”. For lovers of guitar amps, vintage bass cabinets, and digital drums that are more than punchy and organic.

LAZARUS is the concept and project. By Kamran Rashid Khan, an American musician, songwriter, singer, and physician of Pakistani descent who resides in Detroit. Hip hop, rap, rhythm & blues, sampledelia, loops, beats & breaks. Lazarus also has his own company Laz Army Gear which is the official streetwear brand available on his website.

GLENN WHITE is a professional saxophonist and jazz player currently living in New York. He is described by local New York jazz critics as "a sparkling gem," whose modern jazz compositions and skillful, interactive playing have been called "a remarkable and thoughtful style" that "derives from a deeper understanding," as well as like "everything we love about jazz": a beautiful melody. Something we can hold on to. Glenn has performed alongside many notable musicians, including Norah Jones, Paul Banks (Interpol), Greg Camp (Smash Mouth), Michael Eisenstein (Melissa Etheridge), Sunnyside Records artist Jamie Baum, Impulse! artist Greg Tardy, ECM Records artist Art Lande and the Four Tops (opening for Chuck Berry). Glenn has degrees from Arizona State University (BM Jazz Performance), New England Conservatory of Music (MM Jazz Performance), and Columbia University (MS Applied Analytics). The contemporary jazz sound you're looking for, which has all the potential of classic ragtime, bebop, cool, fusion and free jazz. Includes his song "Beeblebrox".

MAD MEG is a band from New York that brings all the potential of chanson noir punk. Since 2011, Ilya Popenko on vocals, Igor Reznik on bass, Ruslan on drums, Jason Laney on keyboards and Dan Veskler on guitar have formed this musical combo. They bring all the cultural baggage of international rock together with the cosmopolitan melting pot of the great New York city. Russia and the United States in the same band. There is no reason to get angry, the best thing is to start making music and art. As the press says, live and in studio they are “a band that treats it as their personal mission to make your hips sway” and is compared to the Russian band Kino. You will find poetry, photography, lunatic lyrics and a lot of performance. It reminds us of those groups that mixed polka with punk, rock with Russian marches and the stridency of alternative rock. They participate with the song “New Shirt”. We do not know why when listening to them, we remember the humor and. the mixed party of XTC, Tom Waits, Bruno Wizard (The Rejects), Delta 5 and even The Stooges.

PHANTOM POWER is a hard rock group from Livermore, California. Together, the members of this band have shared the stage with Night Ranger, Zakk Wylde, Eddie Money, Chris Cornell, OVNI and Foreigner. It is a mix of pop, hard rock, metal and progressive. They are the kind of real musicians, who are always actively following their own shows and moving around in the Californian city music scene. For those who are lovers of the alternative rock scene and live trapped by the glam sound with bands like Mötley Crüe, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Winger and The Cult.

BEAT WILLY is a duo from Baltimore. The sound of this duet combines elements of acoustic alternative rock, folk, jazz and punk, performed in an intimate duo/singer-songwriter setting. They are Eric Whitehair and Ed Eibel, who began expressing philosophical tirades and personal confessions to music in the 1990s, and are currently recording a follow-up album “Beaterman Files, Vol. 1”, which will be released in the spring of 2022. They participate with the song "Missed", which is a story of coming to terms with a father suffering from Alzheimer's. The group has been noble in the face of these causes, even playing on Halloween 2020 to benefit the American Alzheimer's Association. 100% American folk.

A saga that follows the first LIFA GLOBAL 2020 episode, predecessor of LIFA GLOBAL 2021. Where bands like dolltr!ck (Singapore) ANGELIX (Costa Rica), MAN IN MOTION (Mexico), AZURE WOLF (USA), FREE BUT SHARP PAIN collaborated (Japan), B.O.O.M. (USA), H (Mexico), LOMBARDO (Mexico), FUTURIST (USA) and GREG UTECH (USA).
